In 1959 Marilyn van Wichen
immigrated from Holland with her family, a Dutch father, an English mother and a twin
brother. Marilyn still speaks Dutch, so feel free to speak to her in that language if you
are so inclined.
Marilyn Cargill graduated from San Jose State University
in 1977. She received her degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in math and chemistry.
Marilyn worked her way through college with jobs that gave her a background in business
management and accounting. In 1980 she set up van Wichen Accounting Services, a practice
which specialized in small-business accounting.
During this time she financially managed and reorganized a
variety of businesses including a book bindery, an architectural partnership, a commercial
cogeneration energy company, an auto body shop, a landscape architectural firm, the
business offices of several best-selling authors, offices of several real estate
appraisers and a startup software company. This experience has given Marilyn a practical,
hands-on background in business management.
In 1996 Marilyn retired from her accounting practice in
order to manage the business affairs of Cargill Engineering on a full-time basis. When you
call Cargill Engineering you will very often be speaking to Marilyn. She is responsible
for the administrative aspects of the business. Marilyn also manages all accounting
matters. Questions regarding accounting should be directed to her.
